Update: Scroll down for results!

The 2015 edition of the Arnold Strongman Classic will take place as part of the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio. Split over two days, the competitors will battle it out over five horrendously heavy events to see whether the reigning champion, Big Z, a previous winner such as Lalas, or a newcomer like Eddie Hall can take the coveted title and prize money.

The Events:

1. The Longbar Deadlift — One rep max, with three attempts for each competitor.

2. The Austrian Oak — Floor to overhead log press for maximum repetitions. Athletes will have a choice between a 200kg/441lb log or a lighter 172kg/379lb log.

3. The Cyr Dumbbell — Another floor to overhead event, once again for maximum repetitions. The dumbbell will apparently weigh at least 274lbs/125kg.

4. The Timber Carry — This is the same as last year – 500kg frame carry up an incline. Straps allowed.

5. The Bale Tote — Two weight yoke. Starting weight 590kg/1300lb. Athletes to carry the yoke 4 meters/13 feet. If succesful, the weight of the yoke will be increased to 680kg/1500lb. The fastest time of the heaviest yoke will win.

  1. Mateusz Kieliszkowski from Poland is invited from his finish at last year’s Arnold Amateur World Championship. They’d be remiss not to invite Mikhail Shivlykov back after his performance last year with a torn quad. Terry Hollands should be in from WSM performance.

I don’t think Robert Oberst has earned a spot this year. If he is invited it’s just from social media presence. He got 2nd at America’s Strongest Man but no other WSM level athletes were there besides Savatinov – no Shaw, Burke, Pritchett, Ostlund, Bergmann, Best, Caruso or Rodriguez.

Radzikowski was a top 5 guy briefly but he’s been out with injuries too long, I don’t think they could invite him back yet.

    Hall, Pritchett, or Ostlund

    • Thanks j, we’re only speculating with competitors at the moment. As soon as we have something more concrete we’ll update the post.

Fair points on Kieliszkowski and Shivlykov but doubt Hollands would be making an appearance – the competition doesn’t suit his strengths and he is currently in training for a powerlifting competition. Potentially retired from strongman for good so we understand.

    Warrick Brant (AUS)
    Mike Burke (USA)
    Eddie Hall (ENG)
    Mateusz Kieliszkowski (POL)
    Vytautas Lalas (LTU)
    Benedikt Magnusson (ISL)
    Zydrunas Savickas (LTU)
    Brian Shaw (USA)

This is the list of competitors according to the Arnold Classic website.

  3. Great to read this news, Warrick brant seems like an interesting choice imo but I think he is certainly statically strong as hell lets see how he does. I would like the final slot to be filled by either Misha Koklyaev as he has a very good record at the arnold and is a great showman, Misha Shivlykovas as he did very well for a lighter bloke last year and he was injured, Mark Felix as his deadlift of 1128lb looked so easy I think he could do seriously more or Jerry Pritchett as I feel the compatition suits him.

  4. The Truth Shall Set You Free on

Resolution 626 is a fat hack journalist wanna-be from Pennsylvania who spews whatever he can to defame anyone and everyone involved in the sport of strongman. He has no other purpose than to try to promote his “drug free” criteria which has been met with laughter and shame. We know who you are. You know the lies you have created to bring yourself into the limelight. You now thrust a clueless old man who happens to be a state rep into something you know nothing about. “High fatality rate”? Just like WADA and the rest of the anti-everything chronies; where are the stacks of bodies? Where is the indisputable truth that any drug lead to the direct death of any of these competitors? There is none. You make up statistics and bend the truth to further the fact you failed as both an athlete and promoter.

    • Resolution 626
Have you nothing better to do than spew negativity. Any sport comes with risk and reward. It is always the jealous ones who have no life purpose who feel as if it is their duty to tear down others. Much easier to create negativity than to improve oneself.

Don’t worry Mark,I have just made a few phone calls about this guy.He has now been brought to the attention of the Pennsylvania mental health team.
They tell me they are investigating his case file closely.

  5. idonotwant togivemyname on

Why don’t you go after the WWE and WCW as their athletes have a “high fatality rate”….And while your at it why not also attack the government for allowing people to smoke & drink alcohol, two other “drugs” that have cause a lot more fatalities than a strongman show.
I think someone should go after you for being mentally unstable and have you certified as insane.
And to think folks like you are allowed to vote??

  6. Anticipating the Hummer Tire Deadlift, hope to watch Big Z retain his record, guys how much did you expect this time ? 1200 lbs ??

  7. Hey, does anyone know what are the results after day 1 in ASC? tried googling myself but couldn’t find anything atm

  8. Eddie Hall said on his fb page that Z got easy 4 reps with 206kg log and won the austrian oak event. Does anyone know anything about timber carry?

    • Thor won the timber carry according to his FB. he also says Big Z is leading the contest, Thor second.

  9. Guys is there a livestream for the Arnold Strongman? Strongman, not the bodybuilding competition ^_^. Much appreciated!

      • Well last I saw he did more of a pure press which isn’t good for this event. You want an explosive movement like Brian, Mike, Hafthor and a few others seem to do a bit better at. That said he’s so damn strong he could muscle some out.
